Alice N. Bubacz, 75, of Hermantown, passed away at the U of MN Medical Center on May 12, 2024 surrounded by her husband and children. She was born in Duluth on October 11, 1948 to Olaf and Alice Ness and married Larry Bubacz on September 20, 1969. Alice was a graduate of UMD and taught in a multi-grade school in the mountains of Wyoming as well as Special Ed in the Duluth Public Schools.
A vibrant, kind, caring and beautiful person, Alice volunteered her time working with various charities, participated in different church activities, and read to Hermantown elementary school students. She enjoyed golfing, spending time with her grandchildren, getting together with friends, baking, reading and entertaining. One of her highlights was playing UNO with her granddaughter. Alice was well known to many for her chocolate chip cookies. She also enjoyed many trips to Florida after retirement.
Alice is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Shane Bubacz (Amy), and Anne Hamann (Greg); two grandchildren, Spencer Bubacz and Ayla Hamann; sisters, Dairlyn Gower (Lanny), Jeanette Johnson (Jim), Helene Pavlowich (Tom), and Lisa Hudson (Robb); many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, May 18, 2024 at First United Methodist Church (the Copper Top). Burial at Forest Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations on Alice’s behalf can be made to Second Harvest Northland. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
