Alice (Moretto) Olson, “Auntie Alice”, passed away peacefully Tuesday, November 14, 2017 at BHC Marywood, Duluth. She was born July 6, 1924 in Dewey, Wisconsin to Joseph and Virginia (Barret) Moretto. Alice was raised on the family farm , developed by her hard working parents from Zorzio, Italy. She and her sisters and brother walked two miles daily for their elementary classes in the Dewey one room schoolhouse. In 1943, she graduated from Superior Central High School. Alice worked many years at the Elliott Meat Packing Company as a bacon wrapper. On October 2, 1976, Alice married the love of her life Arvid R. Olson. This union lasted 5 happy years. Her beloved husband passed away November 2, 1981. Love for family helped fill her days. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arvid, brother Batista, sister Suntina Spehar, and two infant brothers.
Alice is survived by her brother Phillip (Judy) Moretto, Hermantown, MN, sister Erma Harty, South Range, Wi, stepdaughter Claudia Belisle, Hudson, WI, stepson Gary Olson, Duluth, MN, step-grandson
Dane Olson, International Falls, MN, nephews Bill Spehar, Tom Spehar, Mark Spehar, Lance Moretto, nieces Ginny Moretto, Diane Steele, LaVonne Lathrop, Marge Fajardo, Joyce Spehar, Joan Spehar, and Mary White. A special thank you to the nursing staff at Marywood, for the loving care they gave Alice.
Visitation Monday, November 20, 2017 from 10 AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. James Catholic Church, 721 N. 57th Ave. West, Duluth, MN. Burial at Calvary Cemetery, Superior, WI.
