Carole Ann (Mlodozyniec) McLaughlin, 85, of Duluth, died Saturday, March 30, 2024 at the Heritage Haven Assisted Living Community. Carole was born on December 20, 1938 in Duluth to Maurice and Lois (Robillard) Martens. She graduated from St Jean’s Catholic School and is a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Carole worked for Newman’s Pharmacy, Peterson-Anderson Florist and First Photo before retiring from Minnesota Power where she was an administrative assistant. She enjoyed playing the piano and guitar, rubber stamping, bowling, playing cards and baking. She was a member of the French Club and ushered in folk music to St. Jean’s Catholic Church in her younger years.
She always had a beautiful smile and a hug for everyone. She loved all her visits from her family and friends. She was never in short supply of candy and treats and always had a jigsaw puzzle in progress.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son, Joseph; husbands, Eugene Mlodozyniec and John “Mac” McLaughlin; a brother, Pat Martens; stepson, George McLaughlin.
Carole is survived by her children, Michael of Duluth, Kevin (Tammie) of Wrenshall, Lori (Stan) Meger of Duluth, Tim (Shari) of Duluth and Scott (Calla) of Eden Prairie, MN; three brothers, Dave (Geri) Martens of Duluth, Don (Gayle) Martens of Mesa, AZ and Mickey (Shirley) Martens of Duluth; a sister, Diane Cich of Coon Rapids, MN; stepchildren, Michael (Kate) McLaughlin of Shoreview, MN, Bonnie Pappin of Anoka, MN, and Diane Westergard of Apple Valley, MN; a stepdaughter-in-law, Priscilla McLaughlin of Duluth; 13 grandchildren, Megan, Kaylee (Kevin) Johnson, Jessie (Eli) Jones, Kodie (Morgan), Seth, Derek, Geena (Jared) Oakman, Kelsey (Karl) Funk, Eryn, Bryan, Julia, Jack and Jillian; five great-grandchildren, Easton, Nolan, Nash, Lucas and Marleigh; several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family thanks the staff at Heritage Haven for the wonderful care they provided.
Visitation 5 to 7 pm Monday, April 8, 2024 at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Visitation will continue on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic Church from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial. Fr Anthony Craig officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association would be appreciated. Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.
