Colette Ann (Rankin) Pauley, 85, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Franciscan Health Center in Duluth, surrounded by her loving family. Colette was born November 25, 1932 in Hibbing, MN, daughter of Katherine (Gavin) and Edward Rankin. She graduated from Hibbing High School, then received her degree from Hibbing junior College. She met the love of her life, Richard Pauley, while working at the Visitor Information Booth for the Hull Rust Mine in Hibbing. They were married July 19, 1952. They lived in Chicago, Il and Chisholm, MN for a short time before moving to Babbitt, MN in 1954 as one of the founding families of the town. However, when Reserve Mining closed they briefly relocated to Willmar, MN working at a turkey farm, before returning to Babbitt. The most important things to Colette were her Catholic faith and her family. She was a member of St. Pius X parish in Babbitt and St. Joseph’s in Duluth. Her favorite pastimes were playing cards and games, fishing, baking, watching sports, and reading. Colette moved to Primrose Apartments in Duluth in 2009. She was a resident at the Franciscan Health Center for the last four years. Colette was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, in 1997; her sisters, Cleo Gamble and Stella Rankin. Colette was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her eight children; Peg (Frank) Oman, Edward (Eileen) Pauley, Peter (Jo) Pauley, Paul (Jeanna) Pauley, Nora Pauley, Mark (Deanna) Pauley, Mary (Kevin) Nelson, and Tom (Kelly) Pauley; 24 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Franciscan Health Center for their loving care of Colette. Visitation 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Holy Family Catholic Church, 2430 West 3rd St, with Rosary Prayers at 6:30 p.m., visitation will continue from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Rev Fr Ryan Moravitz officiating. Burial in Argo Cemetery, Babbitt, MN. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
