David “Dave” John DeToffol, 84, passed away on March 29, 2025. Dave grew up with strong family roots in Gary New Duluth. He was born with a wrench in his hand. He learned the values of hard work and mechanical skills working in the family run Hudson car dealership.
After graduation from Morgan Park High School, he met his wife of 59 years, Donna. Together they worked hard and raised 3 children.
Dave continued his passion for fixing things with his classic cars. He could be seen at a flea market or swap meet looking for that ‘one part’ that would complete the project. But we all know the project is never complete. If you needed a tool or just a little advice, you could always find him in his garage willing to help. The true apples of his eyes were his grandchildren, Donovan DeToffol, Olivia Johannessen and DeShon Pleau. He would often take them ‘cruising’ around town with him.
Proceeded in his passing by his parents and sister. Survived by his wife, Donna; daughters, Carrie DeToffol and Jodi (Wylie) Johannessen; son, Mark (Melisa) DeToffol; grandchildren, Donavan DeToffol, Olivia Johannessen and DeShon Pleau. The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood Vista Memory Care and Care Edge Hospice services.
Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church. 2430 West 3rd St. Rev Fr Anthony Craig officiating. Burial in Oneota Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
