David George Peterson, 79, of Duluth, died Sunday, October 18, 2020 in St. Luke’s Hospital. David was born on February 2, 1941 to George and Jennie (Carlson) Peterson. David was a 1959 graduate of Denfeld High School and received a full swimming scholarship at the University of Minnesota, graduating with a degree in History. David married Claudia Love on September 21, 1968 in Duluth. David was a teacher and an educator for the St. Louis County Health Department, and later in life, he drove the bus from the Senior Citizen Center. David was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, now Spirit of God Lutheran Church, where he was active with various boards, committees and was currently vice president of the church council. He enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing and golfing. David delivered Meals on Wheels for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Claudia in 2015. He is survived by a sister, Diane (Ronnie) Nesvold of Pike Lake; a niece, Tiffany (Joe) Binion of Duluth; three great-nieces, Lily, Josie and Evangeline; a sister-in-law, Mary Morrison of Superior. Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, October 23, 2020 at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Pastor Nathan Sager officiating. Burial in Bethany Cemetery.
