DeLinda HisGun

DeLinda Marie HisGun, age 56, died Saturday, July 24, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was born in Sisseton, SD to Charlotte Grey Owl and Dennis HisGun on April 7, 1965. She was a proud member of the Sisseton Wahpeton Oyate Tribe in Sisseton, SD. She made her home in Duluth, MN and enjoyed the views of the area. Delinda graduated high school from Mahnomen High School in 1983. Years later she attended the Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College in Cloquet, MN. She was lovingly called DeeDee by her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with loved ones and was so proud of her children and grandchildren. DeeDee also enjoyed beading, crocheting and telling stories. She was preceded in death by her parents Dennis HisGun and Charlotte Grey Owl, her daughter Ashley Sargent, paternal grandmother Melvina LaBatte, sisters Iva HisGun and Jacqueline HisGun-Ferrier; nieces Ivory Brant and JoLisa Goodman and nephews Noah HisGun, and Jordan Aguilar. Delinda is survived by her children, Thomas Sargent and Amberley Sargent of Duluth and Prairie Northrup of Cloquet, MN.; Siblings Mary Ann HisGun, Nancy HisGun, Dennis (Carlene) HisGun Jr of Detroit Lakes, MN, Seth (Jenelle) HisGun of Waubun, MN, Lucas (Tesshelle) HisGun of Naytahwaush, MN, Nicole HisGun, Aaron (Rachel) HisGun, Andrew (Justine) HisGun, Aimee (Moon) HisGun and Samantha HisGun all of Mahnomen, MN; six grandchildren; aunts, JoAnn HisGun and Wanda Varns of Sisseton, SD; several nieces, nephews and many relatives from Crow Creek. Visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 29th in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, 3208 W. 3rd Street where visitation will continue from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service Friday, July 30th.
