Diane Estelle Ellefson, 92, died peacefully with family by her side on Friday, August 16, 2024 at Edgewood Vista Memory Care.
Diane was born on April 7, 1932 in Duluth, MN, where she resided her whole life. She attended Denfeld High School before marrying the love of her life, Don, on June 20, 1949. Diane was a dedicated stay-at-home mother to four children, and she always enjoyed their many activities and sports. In her later years she also looked forward to attending her grandchildren's school programs, sporting events, and graduations. She was a long-time member of Elim Lutheran Church.
She enjoyed rummage sales, bowling, and countless hours of coffee time with great friends and neighbors. Diane had a passion for antiques from decorating her home in Victorian style to traveling the country with Don in search of treasures (never missing an antique shop) to having her own booth in a local antique store. She also had a special place in her heart for the family cabin on Schultz Lake just north of Duluth. It was her "happy place" for over sixty years, making memories with family and friends, dropping a line in the water for a walleye, cruising slowly on the pontoon, and occasionally, dipping her toes off the dock.
Diane is preceded in death by her parents, George and Estelle; beloved husband of 69 years, Don; sister, Carol; brother-in-law, Robert; sister-in law, Gloria. She is survived by her children, Doak, Steven, Dawn (Mark), Michael (Debra); seven grandchildren, Troy, Kyle, Danielle, Tiffany, Erik, Scott, and Aaron; ten great grandchildren, Oliver, Estelle, Rory, Anna, Kade, Sophia, Lilly, Amelia, Benjamin, Piper; brother-in-law, Dwight; sister in-laws, Darla, Carol; many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Beehive and Edgewood Vista Memory Care as well as Essential Health Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Diane.
