Doris L. Skrien, age 88, Duluth, MN, died Tuesday March 27, 2018 at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Proctor, MN. She was born in Ray, MN, on April 29, 1929, and she and her twin brother were adopted as infants by Samuel and Hannah Anderson. Doris was a 1947 graduate of International Falls High School. She worked as a teller and head teller at the First National Bank in International Falls and retired from the bank in 1990. Doris married Wesley Skrien in International Falls on May 10, 1952. They were together until his death in 2015. Doris loved her family, and was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always had a positive influence on other people. She had a strong faith in God and belief in the power of prayer. She enjoyed knitting, gardening and was a sports fan, especially the Minnesota Twins. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, great-grandson Reece Clapp and grandson-in-law Terry Clapp. Doris is survived by her son Mark (Linda) Skrien, Owatonna, MN, daughter Cathy (Larry) Peterson, Cotton, MN, grandchildren Tim (Meghan) Skrien, The Woodlands, TX, Terri (Matt) Russell, Ham Lake, MN, Hannah (Michael) McCabe, Duluth, Justus (Calla) Peterson, Cotton, great-grandchildren Lily, Ian and Liam McCabe; Layne and Essi Peterson; Britta, Scarlett and Jude Clapp; Tess Russell; Olivia and Nolan Skrien; step great-grandchildren Joey and Elliott Russell; and twin brother Clarence Anderson, Willow Brook, IL. Memorial service 1 p.m. Tuesday April 3, 2018, at Ecumen Lakeshore Elsing Chapel, 4000 London Road, Duluth. Reception to follow.
