Edward Carlson 99, of Duluth, Mn. (Robin Ave) passed away peacefully on July 16th, 2021, at Primrose Retirement Community.
Ed was born in Morganville Kansas on November 14th,1921. At the age of 14 Ed’s family moved to Minnesota where he would ultimately meet the love of his life Dorothy LaFlamme. Ed and Dorothy wed, settled in Duluth, and remained married for over 66 years.
Ed was one of a few remaining “greatest generation” WW2 veterans serving in Italy during the war. After the war, Ed returned to Duluth where he worked as a carpenter at the St. Louis County Court House until his retirement in 1984. Ed loved time spent with others, good conversation, and good causes. This led to a lifetime of community and civic service, including, the CCC, Boy Scouts, VFW, French Club, St Joseph’s Church, and President of the Duluth Heights Community Club.
Ed’s hobbies and interests were numerous, but he particularly loved woodworking and was known as the guy that could fix or make anything.
When not spending time at their cabin on Long Lake Dorothy and Ed loved to travel and took full advantage of their golden years.
