Elaine M. Opack, 92, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Edgewood Memory Care in Hermantown. Elaine was born in Duluth on April 13, 1927 to Arvid and Hilma Meyers. She was a graduate of Denfeld High School and Duluth Business University. Elaine married her one and only John Opack on April 3, 1948. They built a home in Piedmont Heights and started their family. She worked for the Board of Education and First Lutheran Church. She helped open the Duluth Arena Auditorium in 1966 and worked in concessions for 29 years. She also worked for the Duluth Builders Exchange from 1988 to 2005. She and John loved entertaining and hosted fabulous 4th of July parties for many years. They enjoyed traveling to visit their daughter Nancy and family from Maine to Montana to Hawaii. She enjoyed cribbage, pinochle, poker, bingo, trips to the casino and had a wonderful sense of humor. Elaine loved her family and friends and was blessed to have a beautiful life filled with love. She was preceded in death by her husband; sister, Joyce (Steve) Milosevich; brother, George (Sally) Meyers; grandson, Sam Nevius; son-in-law, Jerry Osborn and many other relatives and friends. She is survived by daughters, Nancy (George) Nevius and Carol (Stephen) Kolberg; grandchildren, Jamie Osborn and Max Nevius; step grandchildren, Debby (Pat) Melby, Becky (Dave) Johnson, Matt Kolberg, Jon Kolberg and Lindsey (Bryant) Hale; step great-grandchildren, Andrew, Alyssa, Logan, Cassidy (Mitchell), Jake, Jenna, Nick, Margaret and Marissa; great-great-grandchild, Sawyer; nieces and nephew, Deb (Bob) Anderson, Pam (David) Stokke, Jay Milosevich, Julie (Scott) Klejewski, their families and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, March 19, 2020 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. Rev. Fr. William Fider officiating. Memorials to St. Lawrence Church or Animal Allies would be appreciated. Arrangements are by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
