Eleanor Jane (Rasmussen) Larsen age 85 of Duluth, died peacefully with family by her side at St. Luke’s Hospice on October, 18, 2024. She was born in Duluth on November 28, 1938 to parents, Edwin & Wilma (Nelson) Rasmussen. Eleanor was a 1956 graduate of Denfeld High School. She married Gordon Larsen shortly after, on June 29, 1956. They shared 58 years of marriage and raised 5 loving children at their home in Duluth Heights. While her kids kept her busy, she took time to enjoy playing volleyball, softball, and camping with family and friends. Eleanor was extremely crafty. She loved to sew, knit, and crochet. Over the years she donated and gifted countless pairs of mittens. Many of which her family still wears to this day. Eleanor, along with her 3 sisters enjoyed woodcarving together. They lovingly referred to themselves as "The Knotty Carvers of the North". Eleanor had an impressive working career. She worked for Kelly How-Thompson, Minnesota Manufacturing Co., Northshore Manufacturing, Duluth Airport Food Service, Morterud’s Eggs, and Chris Jensen Nursing Home Food Service. She was also an active member of many clubs, most notably; The Minnesota Wings Motorcycle Club, GWRRA, Duluth Heights Community Club, including the Winter Frolic and Snowmobile Club. Eleanor loved to travel. Some of her favorite places were Sweden, Norway, Hawaii, and Branson. She was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church, and an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and brother, Raymond Rasmussen. She is survived by her children, Kenneth, Myrna Dudek, Glenn, Dale (Tammy), Paul (Donna); grandchildren, Melissa (Jeff) Reisdorf, Zachary Dudek, Courtney (Michael) McGinnis Erica, Nicole, , Kyle, and Elizabeth Larsen; great-grandchildren, Connor, Chevie, Joe, Aidan, Gavin, Delanie, Ivy, Madeline, and Landon; sisters, Elaine Ellefsen, Betty (Jim) Merling and Janet Rasmussen; sister-in-law, Carol Rasmussen; many relatives and friends. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with a Visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 24th at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 410 North Arlington Ave. Interment at Sunrise Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the Viewcrest Nursing Home staff, and St. Luke’s Hospital, especially Beth and Bailey while in hospice care.
