Elwood Floyd Hoffmockel born April 3, 1930 died on May 26th 2021 at the age of 91. Elwood married Lolita (Lolly) Collins June 7, 1950. He was employed by US Steel for 33 years and retired in 1982. He continued working as an independent contractor and landlord until he was 75 years of age. His example taught his family good work ethic, a willingness to help each other out, and to always give their best. He loved his family and gave advice generously. Elwood graduated in 1948 from Superior Central High. His yearbook said his goal was “To spend the rest of his life fishing.” He was able to live his dream. He LOVED fishing and hunting - teaching his grandchildren to love it too. He also loved to travel and shared this passion with his girls. Some of his favorite trips include: Alaska, Russia, Yellowstone, California, Washington, Hawaii, and a vast number of National Parks. Preceded in death by his parents Charles and Myrtle, grandson Evan George Elwood Olson, great granddaughter Lillian Elizabeth Green, and 9 siblings. He is survived by his wife Lolita, children – Lonita (Joseph) Johnson, Brenda (James) Hanson, Marla (Timothy) Shobak, Kim (Larry) Volkenant, Gina (David) Hamman, Nona (Gregory) Olson, 18 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren, a sister Rose Belanger, sister-in-law Diane Hoffmockel and extended family. Visitation will be held at William Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 10:30-12:00.
