Gary Dennis Carlson, age 77 of Duluth, passed away peacefully on Monday April 9, 2018 at Benedictine Health Center. He was born in Brainerd, MN, on August 16, 1940 to Clarence and Elizabeth Carlson. Gary married Carol Swenson and together they enjoyed many years of traveling. He was an owner-operator for Halvor Lines since 1969, often hauling oversized loads and put several million miles under his tires throughout his career as a commercial truck driver. Gary had many hobbies throughout his lifetime, including amateur ham radio operator, drag racing in his early years, attending motorhome rallies across the country where he was well known for his homemade cookies. He also loved to sit and chat with everyone he met. He was a member of the Minnesota Street Rod Association, Monaco North Central, FMCA and the Vintage Times Car Club. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Gary is survived by his children Denise Carlson, Mike(Sue)Carlson, and Mark(Dawn)Carlson, and brother C.W. “Bill”Carlson, all of Duluth, grandchildren Billy Berger, Cody and Courtny Carlson, Jordan Borske and great-grandson Jeremiah Borske. Visitation 10AM until the 11AM Memorial Service Monday April 16, 2018 at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home. Inurnment at Oneota Cemetery.
