Genevieve "Gen" Larson

Genevieve “Gen” Tessier Larson, 89, of Duluth, died Wednesday, June 30, 2021 in Heritage Haven Assisted Living Community. She was born on December 13, 1931 in Duluth to Joseph and Bertha Tessier. Gen was a graduate of Denfeld High School and attended Dental Assistant School. She married Sarge Larson on October 2, 1954 at St. Jean’s Catholic Church in Duluth. Gen worked many years for the Duluth Public Schools as a cook and “lunch lady”. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she was active with the funeral lunch committee and the Pasties fundraiser, the French Club and the American Legion Post 71 Auxiliary. Gen enjoyed gardening, canning, golfing, traveling and spending winters in Yuma, AZ. She volunteered as an Election Judge, at the Harrison Community Club and the Viewcrest Auxiliary. Gen was an awesome mom, grandma and cook. She loved attending all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events. She especially loved to rock her grandbabies. Gen was a member of the “School Club” where a group of friends from kindergarten kept in touch and socialized throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Maurice, Raymond and Lawrence Tessier; her husband, Sarge. Gen is survived by six children, Kathleen (Terry) Ulshafer, Karen (Jim) Brandt, Janet (Mark) Hastreiter, David (Vicki) Larson, Thomas (Sheila) Larson and Terri (Tony) Bronson; a sister, Cecile Boone; a brother, Joseph (Julie) Tessier; sister-in-laws, Barb (Ken) Johnson, Connie Tessier and Pat Tessier; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren; many friends, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. 2410 Morris Thomas Road. Rev Fr William Fider officiating.
