Ida E. (Boder) Carlson, 97, of Duluth, passed from this life November 2, 2013 surrounded by family at Viewcrest Health Center. Ida was born Oct 16, 1916 in Sauk Centre, MN and grew up in Ottertail, MN. She moved with her family to Duluth as a teenager where she met and later married Arthur Carlson on July 25, 1936. Ida worked at the Lenox, Spalding, Hotel Duluth and Kemps Fish Co. Ida sold flowers and raspberries for 48 years. Flower gardening was her passion. Ida really had a zest for life, she was game for just about anything. She enjoyed traveling to Hawaii, cruises and gambling excursions with her friend Virginia McDonald. She always had good times with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Art; eight brothers and one sister; her parents, Matt and Rose Boder; grandchildren, Terry Granquist and Tammy McDonald. She is survived by her four daughters, Bev (Orv) Helland, Barb (Ken) McDonald, Bonnie (Mike) Ogston and Becky (Chris) Persgard all of Duluth; two sisters; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Viewcrest for their care and compassion over the last 3 years. Especially everyone at Green Valley. Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Nov 6, 2013 in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Burial in Bethany Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Viewcrest Health Center.
