Idelle D. (Cloutier) O'Brien, 92, of Duluth, passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013, at the Benedictine Health Center. She was born on September 2, 1920, in Duluth to Edward and Lillian Cloutier. She graduated from Denfeld High School and was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity. She left Duluth in 1961 to join her daughter, Joan, in Washington, D. C. and worked for the Department of Agriculture. She stayed two years and met her future husband, John O'Brien there. They returned to Minneapolis and married on St. Patrick's Day 1963, and they shared many happy years. She loved traveling, reading and shopping, but most of all, her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Diane and Joan's father, Carl Eisenach, her husband, John, a brother, Donald Whallon, a sister, Glendora Thoreson, a grandson, Christopher Black. Idelle is survived by her daughters, Diane (Tom) Black and Joan (David) Crawford; grandchildren, Mark (Mary) Black, Bryan (Jennifer) Black, Joan and David's children, Susan (Eden) Forsythe-Copping, Patrick Crawford, Daniel Crawford (Colleen), Andrea Potterton (Keric) and a special granddaughter-in-law, Sharon Black; great grandchildren, Tony, Jacob, Joshua, Spencer, Evan, Avery and Isabella; a special niece, Carole Veron and many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service Friday, February 15, 2013, at the Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity, 2701 West 3rd St. Pastor Greg Daher officiating. Burial in Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, memorials to Lutheran Church of the Holy Trinity would be appreciated.
