James A. "Jim" Aspoas Jr, 62, of Shilhon Road, Duluth Township, died Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his residence due to natural causes. He was born in Alexandria, VA on August 5, 1950 to James Sr and Phyllis (Smith) Aspoas. Jim was a 1968 graduate of Duluth East High School and attended UMD. Jim served in the U. S. Army Military Police during Vietnam. Jim was a retired Millwright and a member of Local 1348. He was a member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church and was a friendly face around the Clover Valley Area for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his significant other, Elizabeth "Bette" McNamara. He is survived by two sisters, Anne Aspoas and Mary E. "Beth" Aspoas both of Duluth; a brother, WC "Chuck" (LouAnn) Aspoas of Duluth; nieces, Jesse Aspoas and Casey (Scott) Luostari both of Duluth; a great niece, Anja; a goddaughter, Stephaine Korte of Sacramento, CA; a friend, Peg Twining of Duluth. Visitation will be from 12 noon until the 1 p.m. Memorial service Friday, February 1, 2013 in Lakeside Presbyterian Church. 4430 McCulloch St. Pastor Kari Jutila officiating.
