An active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, both he and Cathy spent decades lovingly caring for the parish’s liturgical decorations. He was a 74-year member of the Friars of St. Francis and a lifetime fixture in the church choir. A past president of the DM & IR Veterans Association, he was also a member of Boy Scout Troop #52 where he was an adult leader for over 30 years and a recipient of the organization’s Silver Beaver Award. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Catherine; sisters, Verna Homich, Frances Nesgoda, Agnes Stackowitz and Cecelia Nelson; brothers, Stanley, Frank and Joseph. John is survived by his children, Tim (Marleen), Dan (Kelly), Karen (Larry) Trojak and Rick (Shawn); grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, Natalie, Maryssa, Blake, Nicole and Justin; and many nieces and nephews.
