Joy G. Cheetham, a lifelong resident of Duluth, died Sunday, October 26, 2014. She was 95 years old. Joy was born in Duluth on August 24, 1919 to Leo and Anna Hoffman Gauthier, She attended business school in Wausau, WI. Joy married her high school sweetheart, Robert Cheetham, September 12, 1940 and the raised two children. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and boating with her family, and get-togethers with her many friends. Joy worked for J.C. Penney Company for 25 years. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church and their Mary Circle. She was also a member of the OK Club at St. Lawrence Church. She served her community as a volunteer for the Piedmont Nutrition Center, the Piedmont Seniors, and was on the Senior Advisory Board of Duluth. She was an election judge for many years. Joy was a devoted wife, a loving mother and grandmother, and a good friend to many. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and her three brothers. She is survived by a sister, Gloria (Harold) Tesdahl of Duluth; a son, Ronald (Sue) Cheetham of Antrim, NH; a daughter, Joyce (Jerry) Robins of Linn Creek, MO; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. memorial service, Monday, November 10, 2014 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2415 Ensign St, Duluth. Pastor Michael Main officiating. Inurnment at Oneota Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be given to the church or to a charity of your choice.
