Joyce Marilyn Luczak, 86, of Duluth, died peacefully on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Golden Oaks Assisted Living. She was born in Duluth on May 10, 1934 to Emil and Edith Marie (Miller) Sundset. Joyce graduated from Denfeld High School in 1952, and married James Joseph Luczak on October 13, 1956 in Duluth; celebrating 64 years together. Joyce worked at Lutheran Campus Ministries. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church where she was an active member always volunteering wherever she was needed. She and Jim spent many years delivering Meals on Wheels throughout the community. Joyce was a wonderful cook and baker and nobody left hungry. She loved baking with her granddaughters, family get-togethers, and golfing and lunching with the ladies. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and friends to Nevada. Her kindness and love will be greatly missed. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Janet. Joyce is survived by her husband Jim; son Jeff (Cheryl) Luczak; daughter Jill (DuWayne) Bastyr, all of Duluth; her four grandchildren Allison (Cody) Willis of Duluth, Justin (Laura Semrad) Luczak of Superior; Chelsea (Levi) Talarico of Duluth and Brady Bastyr of Duluth; and one great-grandson Lincoln James Willis. She is also survived by her special cousin, Barb Johnson, who was like the sister she never had. The family would like to thank the staff at Golden Oaks for the wonderful care and compassion extended to Joyce and her family. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 10:30 a.m. until the 12:00 Noon funeral service at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home. Masks will be required.
