Joyce D. Solomon, 87, formerly of Smithville, died Wednesday, November 8, 2017 in St. Luke’s Hospice. Joyce was born on August 31, 1930 in Duluth to Michael and Inga (Danielson) Scalise. She was a 1948 graduate of Morgan Park High School and worked in the accounting office at U. S. Steel. She married Urban F. Solomon in Duluth on June 20, 1953. Joyce was a member of the Fond du Lac Community Church. She loved her Lord, reading scripture and studying the Bible. Joyce was known for her quilting, every family member has their own unique quilt to remember Joyce by. She enjoyed sewing, baking and Rosemaling. Joyce learned to play the piano in her 50’s. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Urban and grandson, Kyle Solomon. She is survived by three sons, David (Hope) of Duluth, Jay (Laurie) of Schofield, WI and Thomas (Michele) of Dayton, OH; a sister, Sally (Paul) Solomon of Duluth; grandchildren, Jim (Teresa) Solomon of Wrenshall, MN, Kristen (Eric) Brockberg of Pipestone, MN, Timothy (Sarah) Solomon of Duluth, Josh Solomon of Minneapolis, Holly Solomon of Minneapolis, Austin Solomon of Schofield, WI, Ryan Solomon of El Paso, TX, Abbey, Lauren and Megan Solomon all of Dayton, OH; 9 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and dear friends. The family would like to thank all the staff and friends at Spirit Valley Assisted Living and St. Luke’s Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Visitation 10 AM until the 11 AM Memorial service Saturday, November 18, 2017 at the Mission Creek Church, formerly the Fond du Lac Community Church. 521 131st Ave West. Pastor Rob Skutevik officiating. Burial was at Oneota Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Mission Creek Church would be appreciated. Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home is entrusted with final care.
