LaVerne M. Hann, 89, formerly of W. 6th St., died Monday, Feb. 29, 2016 in Heritage Haven. She was born on Oct. 20, 1926 in St. Louis, Mo. to William and Mildred (Coonley) Frank. She had been a Duluth resident since age 18. LaVerne married Harvey Hann in Duluth on Nov. 20, 1945. She was a homemaker and a member of First Covenant Church, where she was active with its Bible study and Covenant Women. She was also an active member of Y-TAC and in earlier years, was involved with the Lincoln Elementary School PTA. She enjoyed having coffee parties with neighbors, talking on the phone with family and friends and watching television. She loved to crochet scarves and hats for her great- grandchildren, but most of all, she loved her family. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harvey in 1992, brother, Fred Frank and a grandson, Peter Hann. She is survived by her children, Harvey L. (Su) Hann of Surprise, Az., Phyllis (Jon) Bergstrand of Duluth and Bruce W. (Cathy) Hann of Hoyt Lakes; brother, Paul (Alice) Frank of St. Louis, Mo.; grandchildren, Ellen (Dennis) Hann, Lisa (Gerald) Lee, Kevin (Kristen) Bergstrand, Dawn (Eric) Sathers, Jason Hann, Erin Bergstrand and Breeanna Hann; and 12 great-grandchildren. Her family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at Heritage Haven and Essentia Hospice, for the wonderful care and compassion given to LaVerne. Visitation will be Friday from 10AM until 11 AM service in First Covenant Church. Rev. Mark Kelly will officiate. Burial will be in Oneota Cemetery. Williams- Lobermeier-Boettcher is entrusted with final care.
