February 21, 1942 — April 10, 2025

Duluth

Age 83, passed away on April 10, 2025 at St Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, surrounded by his family. Larry was born in Duluth on February 21, 1942 to Edward and Frances (Walczynski) Nesgoda. After graduating from Duluth Denfeld High School in 1961, Larry enlisted in the Air National Guard, working at the Duluth 148th Fighter Wing base. After leaving the Air National Guard, he worked at Reserve Mining in Silver Bay as a crane operator, before working for 35 years at UMD as maintenance personnel, retiring in 2004.

Larry met the love of his life, Roberta (Bobbie) Reynolds in 1963, and they were married January 18, 1964 at St Clement’s Catholic Church in Duluth. Larry was a strict but loving father to their four children, but like all grandparents, became less strict and more relaxed as the grandchildren and then great-grandchildren came along.

Larry loved to bowl and golf, play cards, go camping, and travel with Bobbie, including several boat cruises around the Caribbean, and even one along Europe’s Rhine River. The family camped at Timberline Campground in Sturgeon Lake for nearly 50 years, where lifelong friends were made around the many campfires and happy hours. Larry and Bobbie loved to entertain family and friends, famous for hosting many Halloween parties, Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas celebrations. Larry was a lifelong member of the Friars of St Francis at Holy Family Parish, and a longtime parishioner of St Michael’s Catholic Church.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Michael Nesgoda. He is survived by Bobbie, his loving wife of 61 years; his brother, William Nesgoda; his children, Christine (Deron) Martie of Champlin, MN; Therese (Tim) Freeman and Patrick Nesgoda of Duluth; and Todd Nesgoda of Maple Grove, MN; grandchildren, Jacquelynn, Brandon, Andrew, Carly, Casey, and Rory; great-grandchildren, Keira, Lucas, Jason and Warren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
