Leigh Ann Pristash, 62, Hermantown, passed away at home Tuesday, December 4, 2012 after a lengthy and courageous battle with chronic illness. She was born May 3, 1950, in Green Bay, WI to Donald and Gloria Landry. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy, Green Bay and went on to graduate from the University of Wisconsin-Oskosh with a B.S. in Elementary Education in 1972. For 10 years, Leigh Ann was self employed as the owner and director of a group daycare and nursery school so she could be a stay at home mom. From 1981 to 1984 she also was an instructor-trainer servicing St. Louis County Daycare Providers, Crisis Shelter Employee's , St. Louis County Daycare Center Staff and private parenting groups. She then started a 26 year teaching career with the Duluth School District, leaving in January 2011 due to disability. While teaching, Leigh Ann also earned her Masters in Education and was a mentor to many student teachers from the St. Scholastica and UMD Schools of Education. She loved to cook and bake, tend her flowers, fish and generally spoil her family. Leigh Ann deeply loved teaching and her "kids" loved her. She was truly an unselfish and giving person who touched many lives. Leigh Ann was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Rob, children, Erin (Mike) Bellefeuille, Sarah (Zack) Groth, grandchildren, Carter and Bella, sister Michelle Freybler of Eau Claire, and brother Kevin Landry of Saugus, CA, many nieces nephews and extended family. Private family services were held at Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home. Inurnment at Calvary Cemetery, Washburn, WI.
