Leonard Lund

Leonard "Lenny" George Lund, 82, Lakeshore Ecumen, formerly of North 43rd Ave West, died Monday, January 20, 2014 in Essentia Health St Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. Lenny was born on New Years Day, 1932 in Askov, MN. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Askov and currently a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Duluth. Lenny graduated from Askov High School and served as an Electricians Mate in the U.S. Navy. In Askov, worked for Olesen Electric Co., and was also City Constable and then became a Pine County Deputy Sheriff, serving the Northern Pine County Area. In 1958 moved to Duluth, working for various electrical contractors and himself as a MN State Licensed Master Electrician. Also worked for the Elliott Co, and the Duluth Board of Education, retiring in Nov. of 1994 after ten years with them. In 1960 married Joyce Stupak in Duluth and had three children, a son and two daughters. A lifelong outdoorsman and conservationist, belonging and active in various clubs and organizations including the National Rifle Assn., North Am. Hunting Club, United Northern Sportsman, MN Conservation Federation, MN Deer Hunters Assoc., Ducks Unlimited, Also American Legion Post 71, I.B.E.W., International Engineers Assn., MN Police & Peace, Duluth Bocce League. Lake Avenue Loafers, and Pugs Club. Preceeded in death by his parents, Leonard and Lydia Lund, his wife Joyce who passed away in Dec. 1988 after 28 years together; a brother, Les and son-in-law, Larry Pederson. He is survived by a son, Tom (Betsy) of Duluth and daughters, Sharon Pederson (Scott Skoglund) of Carlton, MN, and Sandy Lund, and grandkids, Jeff, Kyle, Katie, Jordan and Justin; a sister, Lorraine (Don) Petersen of Askov, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved and cherished the times spent with his family and friends, especially the outdoor recreations and trips together with his grandkids. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeshore Ecumen for the wonderful care they provided for the last two years. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, 4831 Grand Ave and will continue at church from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday. Burial in Oneota Cemetery in the Spring. Memorials to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
