Lorraine Giernett

Lorraine L. Giernett, 94, of Duluth, died Monday, November 4, 2019 in Essentia Health surrounded by family. She was born on May 12, 1925 in Duluth to Henry and Angeline LaMourea. Lorraine was a graduate of Central High School. She married Lee Giernett and together they had five children. Lorraine worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as an Administrative Office Assistant, retiring in 1984. In her younger years, she worked for Peterson-Anderson Florist and North Shore Manufacturing. Lorraine was a member of St. Jeans’ Catholic Church where she volunteered at many activities and now a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, visiting with neighbors and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; her siblings, Albert LaMourea, Ron LaMourea, Adeline LaMourea and Eleanor Hiebler; a grandson, John Michael Kranig. She is survived by her children, Diana (Jerald) Mahnke of Hermantown, Kathleen (William) Kranig of Oak Harbor, Wash, Julie (Steven) Miller of Duluth, Patricia (David) Frestedt of Oracle, Ariz and Terry (Rita) Giernett of Cotton, Minn; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, Nov 7, 2019 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. 2410 Morris Thomas Road. Rosary service will start at 9:30 a.m. Rev Fr Ryan Moravitz officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Lawrence Catholic Church or Essentia Health St. Mary’s-Heart & Vascular Center would be appreciated. Arrangements by Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home.
