Lowell K. Venberg
December 5, 1933 – December 5, 2024
Lowell Venberg, age 91, passed away peacefully on his birthday, December 5, 2024. Born in Duluth on December 5, 1933, Lowell lived a life full of love, laughter, and meaningful connections in the community he cherished.
For nearly three decades, Lowell proudly ran a gas station and car wash on 60th and Superior Street (1970–1997). It wasn’t just a business to him—it was a hub of camaraderie where he shared not only his mechanical expertise, but also great stories, some belly laughs and sometimes after-hours cocktails with Goober, Kevin, Ricky, and any customer lucky enough to stop by at the right time.
For several years after his “retirement”, Lowell safely delivered some very special passengers to school and home again.
Lowell’s passions were simple but profound: he loved his family fiercely, took great pride in his time in the Army, his manicured lawn, his warm, welcoming home and a clean car. He relished fishing trips with his friends, good music, a crowded dinner table and a meal cooked by his wife, which usually resulted in a phone call to one of his kids to proclaim Bev’s talent in the kitchen.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Margaret Venberg of Duluth, MN. He is survived by his beloved wife, Bev; his sons, Larry (Ellyn) and Tod (Cyndi); his sister, Marilyn Boettcher; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews, and his cherished grand-dogs.
The family wishes to thank Diamond Willow and Essentia Hospice for their compassionate care. To honor Lowell’s memory, donations can be made to Essentia Hospice in lieu of flowers.
A private service will be held at a later date. Lowell’s legacy of warmth, humor, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
