Lydia Skoglund

March 9, 1933 — August 28, 2020

Lydia F. Skoglund, 87, of Duluth died peacefully with family by her side on Friday, August 28, 2020 due to heart failure. She was born in Poland on March 9, 1933 and raised in Germany. She came to Duluth in 1951 with her parents and siblings. Lydia married Calvin on September 18, 1954 and they had a wonderful life together. They raised their three children in the Denfeld neighborhood. She enjoyed playing bingo at Keystone Bluffs, where she and Calvin lived since May of 2018. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Martha Finka; a sister, Rosa Glowacki; father-in-law and mother-in-law, several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nephews.  She is survived by her husband, Calvin; daughters, Nancy (Ron) Anderson and Betty (Larry) Skoglund-Moe; a son, Paul; grandchildren, Joshua Anderson, Emily Skoglund, Sally (Curt) Laine and Eric Skoglund; step grandchildren, Summer (Rick) Allen-Murley and Ian Moe; great grandchildren, Kylie, Jade, and Grace Laine; step great grandchildren, Ryan and Julia Allen and Samuel Murley; siblings, Elizabeth Fall, Erika Bauer and George (Chris) Finka and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Essentia Health St. Mary’s for their excellent care. Family and friends with health issues, we understand why you won’t be attending Lydia’s funeral.  Please stay safe during this pandemic. Visitation 12 noon until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Rev Fr John Petrich officiating. Burial in Oneota Cemetery.
