Marie Catherine Luczak, age 89, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 9, 2024. Born in Duluth on July 23, 1934 to Anthony and Agnes Luczak, she was the sixth born of ten children. After graduating from Central High School, Marie began what would become a lifelong career at Duluth Plumbing Supply, retiring in 2000 after 37 years. Marie was a lifelong member of St. Josephat’s Polish National Catholic Church. Her strong faith throughout her life was of extreme importance. Her love of children was evident as she taught Sunday School for decades, and her many nieces and nephews benefited deeply from her love. Each year at Easter she boiled over fifteen dozen eggs to color with the kids. At Christmas she hosted the annual pajama party sleepover in the scary attic. She was affectionately known as ‘Minnow’ the fish. For 67 years she was the caretaker of the family home - The Big House. Marie was a talented seamstress with a passion for crafting. She enjoyed doing needle point, cross-stitch, crocheting, knitting, and was the family tailor. If you look up the word kindness in the dictionary you will find a photo of Marie. She never raised her voice and was always ready to help those in need. Later in life, Marie enjoyed vacationing in Florida, tours with her family exploring the country and traveling worldwide. Marie is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Chester Luczak, Leonard Luczak; sisters Bernice Zelazny, Lucille Zimbeck, Phyllis Peterson, Vivian Thoreson; sister-in-law Fern McGee; brother-in-laws Calvin Bohren, Donald Parzych, LeRoy Peterson, Leo Zelazny, Robert Zimbeck; stepmother Stella Luczak; stepbrother-in-laws Donald Erickson, Thomas Erickson; and stepsister-in-law Joan Erickson.
