Mavis S. Hansen, 87, formerly of West 8th St, died Wednesday, October 23, 2013 in the Genesis Park Center in Severna Park, MD. She was born on March 18, 1926 to Glen and Selma Anderson in Sebeka, MN. Mavis graduated from Sebeka High School and married Emil Hansen on September 26th, 1945 in Sebeka, MN. They moved to Duluth in 1951 where they raised their family. Over the years, Mavis worked at Gino's Pizza, St. Luke's Hospital and at the Miller Dawn. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active with the Naomi Circle, the Sons of Norway, and Bible Study and was awarded a 50 year pin with St. Luke's Volunteer Services. Mavis loved baking and meeting with her coffee group friends at Sunshine CafAC.. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Emil, her sister, Geraldine Paurus, and a daughter, Mary Andersen. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (Jim) Billings of Millersville, MD; two granddaughters, Jennifer Billings of Italy and Sarah Gronowski of Nottingham, MD; a son-in-law, Mark Andersen of Duluth; a grandson, Jeffery Andersen of Duluth; two great-grandchildren, Maria Antonietta of Italy and Brooks Gronowski of Nottingham, MD; a sister, Adeila Bilyeu of Forest City, Iowa; a brother, Roger Anderson of Windom, MN; sisters-in-law, Anne Keith of Mpls, MN and Lucille Wright of Blaine, MN; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10 until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, November 2, 2013 in Zion Lutheran Church, 2431 West 3rd St. Rev. Patrick McCormack and Rev. John Reppe officiating.
