Muriel Irene Zeleznikar, age 90, passed away on February 22, 2017 at Viewcrest Health Center. She was born on November 15, 1926 to Thure and Oralie (McComb) Stenberg. A 1944 graduate of Denfeld High School, Muriel married Walter Zeleznikar on June 19, 1948 in Sacred Heart Cathedral, and they celebrated more than 50 years of marriage. Muriel was a charter member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, where she was active with the OK Club, and worked for St. Louis County Social Services for 35 years, retiring at age 74. Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter, in 2005, and her son, Gary, in 1971, brothers-in-law Joseph, Frank, Robert, and John Zeleznikar, and Hank Bushmaier, sisters-in-law: Angela Mantel, Mary Bachar, Jennie Forneris, Molly Trano, Frances Kosanovich, Lucille Zelen, Anita Zeleznikar and Shirley Zeleznikar. Survivors include her daughters, Nancy (Bill) Andres of Duluth, and Bonnie (Kimber) Langdon of Hermantown/Florida; grandchildren-Jeff (Crystal) and Brian (Megan) Andres, Jennifer (Kris) Stark, and Christopher, Scott (Sarah), and Todd (Laura) Langdon. She had ten great grandchildren: Sydney and Ella Stark, Zoe and Harper Andres, Declan, Colby and Ellis Langdon, Gabriella, Haley and Vail Langdon. Muriel is also survived by her sister, Betty Bushmaier of Washington and her brother Steven of Texas; sister-in-law, Lillian Zeleznikar and brother-in-law Jack Zeleznikar, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Viewcrest Health Center and Essentia Hospice for the compassion and care that Muriel received from them. The family requests no flowers. Visitation 10AM until the 11AM Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday February 28, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 2410 Morris Thomas Road, Duluth. Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home is entrusted with final care.
