Richard N. "Dick" Koglin, 92, of Duluth, passed away Monday, November 18, 2019 at the Solvay Hospice House surrounded by family. Dick was born in Duluth on September 27, 1927 to Paul and Hope Koglin. He graduated from Denfeld High School in 1945 and served in the Navy during World War II. Following his service, he married Donna Bolton on August 9, 1952 in Duluth. Dick worked for Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad as a car inspector, retiring in 1986. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and volunteered at the Hermantown Food Shelf. Dick enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, Jigsaw puzzles and bowled for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, David and Dale. He is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, Rick (Anne) of Mt. Vernon, WA and Jeff (Susan) of Delray Beach, FL; two daughters, Peg (Dan) Adler of Eau Claire, WI and Mary (Dale) Rauvola of Floodwood, MN; three sisters, Valeria Hausmann of Lake Wales, FL, LaWanda Nicholas of Sheridan, IN and Rita Sutherland of Hermantown; a brother, Bruce (Pat) of Duluth; eleven grandchildren, Joel, Kara, Alyssa, Kelsey, Erik, Christina, Erin, Kate, Maija, Hunter and Wyatt; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Drs. Millikan, Nikcevich and Dornfeld, the Essentia Hospice and Solvay Hospice House for their wonderful care.
Visitation 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Memorial service Friday, December 6, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church, 4715 Hermantown Road. Rev Rollie Bockbrader officiating. Military honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Solvay Hospice House or Salem Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
