Ronald Walter Johnson, 97, of Duluth, died Thursday, July 25, 2024 in Viewcrest Health Center. Ronald was born in Skanee, MI on July 23, 1927 to Gustaf and Mamie Johnson. He attended school L’Anse, MI and served in the Navy during World War II.
Ronald worked for the Corps of Engineers in Duluth, Reserve Mining, the EPA Water Lab and the motor pool/housing maintenance at the Duluth Air Base. He also was owner and operator of the Dairy Delight on Arrowhead Road and where he also sold Christmas trees.
He attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church and was a life member of the VFW Post 137. He enjoyed hunting, fishing on Lake Superior, woodworking and gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Miles; brothers, Stanley, Einer, Richard and Russell; sisters, Irene and Florence.
Ronald is survived by a daughter, Lorie Johnson of Duluth; two sons, Terence Johnson of Sturgeon Lake, MN and Daniel (Teresa) Johnson of Duluth; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation 10 am until the 11 am funeral service Friday, August 2, 2024 in Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Memorials to Warm Fuzzies Animal Rescue, Duluth, MN (218) 576-8534 would be appreciated.
