Ruth Bloomquist

Ruth Bloomquist, 104, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in the Viewcrest Health Care center. She was born in Duluth on August 1, 1920 to Carl and Mamie Skoglund. Ruth attended Denfeld High School and married Harry Bloomquist on February 2, 1946. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, enjoyed baking, caring for her home and bird watching. She lived in her own home until the age of 103. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Skoglund and Mamie Overland; her husband, Harry; her sister, Lorraine Peterson; brothers, Lester and Clifford Skoglund; a daughter, Nancy Shamblott and son-in-law, Stuart Shamblott. She is survived by a daughter, Judy (George) Skorich of Duluth; a son, Chuck “Chas” (Cindy) Bloomquist of Lake Nebagamon, WI; granddaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Howard of Duluth; grandson, Jason Shamblott of Philadelphia; special great-granddaughter, Kayla Skorich (Andrew); bonus granddaughters, Lindsey Conito and Alyssa Royer all of Duluth. Visitation 11 am until the 12 noon funeral service Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Asbury United Methodist Church. 6822 Grand Ave. Pastor Katherine Cornell officiating. Burial at Oneota Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Asbury United Methodist Church, Animal Allies of Duluth or the Douglas County Humane Society would be appreciated.
