Ruth M. Sjoblom, 96, of Duluth, passed away Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Bayshore Health Center surrounded by family. Ruth was born on April 17, 1922 in Two Harbors, MN to Conrad and Sophia Carlson. Ruth grew up in Two Harbors and was a graduate of Two Harbors High School. She married Philip Sjoblom on October 10, 1941 in Two Harbors and they enjoyed 71 years together. Ruth worked at Wahl’s Department Store as a cashier in the tube room. Ruth was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church and active with the choir and the Esther Circle. Ruth delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, created ceramic pieces at the Senior Center and enjoyed ice skating into her 70’s, at the Arena with her friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip and her siblings. Ruth is survived by two sons, John of Montevideo, MN, Steven of Duluth; a daughter, Wendy (Tom) Sarkela of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer (Mike) O’Konski, Lauren, Isaac and Jacob; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation 10 until the 11 a.m. Memorial service Monday, January 14, 2019 at the Williams Lobermeier Boettcher Funeral Home, with a time of sharing. Rev. Jim Joseph officiating. Burial at Lakeview Cemetery in Two Harbors at a later date. Memorials to Spirit of God Lutheran Church would be appreciated.
