Shirley M. Amundson, 96, of Proctor, died peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday, March 29, 2024. Shirley was born on June 13, 1927 in Proctor to Roland and Katherine (Barncard) Ruhnke. She graduated from Proctor High School and worked as a beautician, a cashier at the corner grocery store in Proctor and retired as a head cashier at Shopper City. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, now United Lutheran Church of Proctor and a lifetime member of the Proctor Moose. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, crocheting, and spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Parnell “Pug” Okstad, Clifford Pederson and Jimmie Amundson; her brother, Byron Ruhnke; three children, Paul, Steve and Diane Okstad; a great-grandson, Isaiah.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Kathy Hanson of International Falls, MN and Janice Erickson (Richard) of Scotland; 11 grandchildren, Lisa, Steven, Vance, Laura, Josh, Katie, Gavin, Emily, Janessa, Amy and Derek; 21 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will be 11 am Thursday, April 18, 2024 at the United Lutheran Church of Proctor. 701 3rd Ave. Pastor Liz Davis officiating. Visitation one hour prior.
