On Friday, July 12, 2024, Almighty God called our beloved Tom & Marlene home, gathering them into His arms with joy, to enter eternal rest with Jesus. Just as the two of them had been ‘connected at the hip’ for over 75 years in life, they now entered eternity together! Tom was born October 25, 1930, to Rudy & Jo (Wild) Stauber. Marlene was born December 24, 1934, to Eric & Gladys (Nordstrom) High.
Raised in Duluth Heights they shared many mutual friends. Tom graduated from Cathedral High School, 1949. Marlene graduated from Central High School in 1952. Tom & Marlene met in their teen years, swiftly becoming an ‘exclusive item’. They married in Buhl, MN on January 17, 1953, celebrating 71 years of marriage this past January 2024!
Tom & Marlene are most fondly remembered as loving, compassionate, generous, giving, joy-filled, accepting, caring individuals and couple. They approached life with grace, loved their daughters deeply and their families along with any child crossing their paths, serving and always helping those asking and in need. Tom was very proud of his service with the USAF, member of the 51st Fighter Inceptor Wing 1951-1955; he was stationed for one year in Suwon, South Korea. He was also stationed in Tucson, AZ and Roswell, NM before and after serving in South Korea. He’s remembered as a great friend and helper to many with a vocation of master mechanic operating two service stations, servicing in other garages and retiring from the US Post Office maintenance garage in 2000.
Marlene is remembered as a blessed, lovely multi-gifted woman; singer, seamstress, cook and more! Singing began early in her life. She loved to cook delicious foods and serve her family and community, feeding multitudes with her Swedish meatballs and hardtack for so many different gatherings. She catered for many years and retired as a financial planner in 2003.
Tom & Marlene are welcomed into eternity by their parents, brothers, sisters-in-law and son-in-law: Raymond P. Stauber; Ronald V. High; Linda Bryant High; Wayne D. High; Joy Score High; Douglas N. High; Patrick J. Pufall and other dear family members and friends.
They are survived by brothers James R. Stauber (Donna), Hudson, WI; Raymond E. High, Centennial, CO; sisters-in-law Mary Louise High; Cheryl B. High both of Duluth and many cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.
