Veikko Vieno Lepisto, age 80, Duluth, died April 6, 2014. He was born in Duluth on December 12, 1933 to Rev. Antti and Sigrid Lepisto. Veikko was a graduate of Denfeld High School and had a B.A. Degree from UMD. Following WWII he served in the Army in Germany. He married Karen Oberg in Duluth on September 24, 1960. Veikko had worked at the Federal level for the FAA, FRA and the EPA. He had worked as a Field Evaluator for the FAA. He ended his career with the EPA as the Computer Systems Administrator who developed and implemented it’s HR Dept . He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, where he served in many capacities as council member, usher, property and building committee, and money counter, Secretary and Newsletter Editor of the National Assn. Of Federal Retired Employees, past member of the Jarvanpa Singers and a Scoutmaster. Veikko enjoyed fishing, Formula One Racing, reading and HO model trains. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Rev. Antti Lepisto and an infant son. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Karen, son Veikko Mark Lepisto, Duluth, sisters Helmi Hammer, Duluth, and Aino Husen, Mpls, sisters-in-laws Jane Lepisto and Linda Oberg, and many nieces and nephews and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. Visitation 10AM until the 11AM Funeral Service Saturday at Bethany Lutheran Church, 2308 W 3d St, Duluth. Burial at Park Hill Cemetery. Memorials to Bethany Lutheran Church or Parkinson’s Disease Research, in care of the family, are preferred. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home.
