Vera H. Shisler, 98, Duluth, died April 14, 2013 at the Franciscan Health Center. She was born in Osborne, KA, July 5, 1914, to Clarence and Gladys Hill and lived in Kimberly, MN before moving to Duluth in 1926. She was a 1932 graduate of Central High School and a graduate of Duluth State Teachers College. Vera taught at Pine Hill School in Nopeming and the Cedar Lake School in Aitkin. She married Warne Shisler on August 22, 1937 in Duluth. In Duluth she worked for Sears Credit Department, Duluth Water and Gas, and worked as a Teacher's Aid and substitute teacher at Nettleton Elementry School. Vera was an 82 year member of First United Methodist Church, Women's Copper Toppers Society, taught Sunday School, and was past president of Merritt PTA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers Wayne and Gene Hill. She is survived by son Marvin (Karen) of Soldotna, AK, daughter Janet (John) Blankush, Bloomington, MN , sisters Vivian Brendengen of Cedar Rapids, IA and Elaine(Frank)Tancabel, Chisholm, MN, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation noon until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service Thursday, at First United Methodist Church. Entombment at Sunrise Cemetery. Arrangements by Williams-Lobermeier-Boettcher Funeral Home. Memorials preferred.
