Wesley S. Skrien , 88, of Duluth, died Thursday, October 29, 2015 in the Benedictine Health Center. Wesley was born near Ulen, MN on October 2, 1927. He graduated from Ulen High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy right after graduation. After serving in the Navy, he attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. Wesley came to International Falls in 1949 and married Doris Anderson at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls. Wesley was employed by Mando, Boise Cascade and Minnesota Power, retiring in 1989. They lived in International Falls until moving to Duluth in 2008. Wesley enjoyed woodworking, reading and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ida and Otto Skrien; a sister, Carmen Haugen; a brother, Vernon; great-grandson, Reece Clapp; grandson-in-law, Terry Clapp; brother-in-law, Gus Haugen. He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Mark (Linda) Skrien of Owatonna, MN; a daughter, Cathy (Larry) Peterson of Cotton, MN; grandchildren, Tim (Meghan) Skrien of The Woodlands, TX, Terri (Matt) Russell of Edina; Hannah (Michael) McCabe of Duluth and Justus (Calla) Peterson of Cotton, MN; great-grandchildren, Lily, Ian and Liam McCabe all of Duluth, Britta, Scarlett and Jude Clapp all of Edina and Olivia Skrien of The Woodlands, TX; step great-grandchildren, Joey and Elliott Russell of Edina; a sister, Delores (Duwain) Fagerstrom of Moorhead, MN; sister-in-law, Jennie Skrien of Twin Cities; brother-in-law, Clarence (Pat) Anderson of Chicago, IL. Memorial service 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 7, 2015 at the Lakeshore Ecumen Chapel, 4002 London Road. Duluth, MN. Reception to follow at Lakeshore.
