William “Bill” Gordon Anderson, 95, of Duluth, died Monday, March 11, 2024 in Edgewood Vista. Bill was born in Superior, WI on January 14, 1929 to Edwin and Jeannie (Dugan) Anderson. Bill graduated from Superior Central High School and earned his teaching degree from Wisconsin State Teachers College. Following his graduation from college, Bill joined the Air Force and served during the Korean War. He was discharged from the Air Force in 1956 and began his teaching career in Long Beach, CA. Bill returned to Duluth in 1959 and started teaching at Washington Junior High. He met his future wife and fellow teacher, Margaret Eich at Washington Jr and they were married in August 1961. Bill taught 9th grade English while completing his masters degree in education at UMD and retiring in 1986. After his retirement, Bill moved to Fullerton, California for 15 years and then to Cape Coral, Florida for 20 years, returning to Duluth in 2022. He was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, enjoyed traveling the world, gardening and bird watching. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret; his daughter, Christin Ross; two brothers, Ed and George; two sisters, Jeanne Grammond and Gert Payton. Bill is survived by two sons, Rick (Karen) Anderson and Thomas (Shannon Anderson) Anderson, all of Duluth: grandchildren, Stephanie Anderson, Natalie (Jack) Baker, Logan Anderson and Luke Anderson, Margaret Ross, Benjamin (Stephanie) Ross, Spencer and Cameron Ross, a great grandson, Taylum; son-in-law, John Ross of Duluth; many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Edgewood and Caring Edge Hospice for the wonderful care they gave Bill. Visitation 1 pm until the 2 pm Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary. Burial in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
